Although their yellow-and-black stripes are similar to those of bees, yellowjackets are *not* bees. Next, unlike bees, which have stingers with pronounced barbs and can sting only once before dying, yellowjackets are equipped with lance-like stingers that are capable of delivering multiple stings. Third, yellowjackets are predatory and consume other insects. Lastly, most bee species are significantly less aggressive than yellowjackets, which can sting you at the slightest provocation.
