The Italian word STREGA means “witch,” and translates to “screeching owl.” In ancient Roman folklore, striges were nocturnal, birdlike women who flew by night and drank the blood of infants, later evolving into the idea of a witch. Over time, this image softened into the modern Italian “strega” - a mysterious figure still infused with the ancient associations of owls, night, and dark enchantment.

Featuring colors adapted directly from our sellout smash hit “Superstition” dupioni, this witchy brew of vibrant purply-magenta and onyx black creates an aura of the unknown. Cloak yourself in this one-of-a-kind showstopper and all the spirits of the netherworld will soon be under your control…

This stunning 100% silk jacquard has a 28.5” repeat and is 54” wide. Flip the fabric over and and you'll find the design's color inverse! So it's actually TWO silks in one!!

*Important: this fabric has some observable slubs when it is oriented sideways. Jacquard uses raw silk because it requires weight and a textured look.
