This reverential, almost priestly solid burgundy is named for the infamous French cardinal who helped to consolidate Louis XIII's royal power during the 1600s. A very clever man with great ambitions, Richelieu was a politician, negotiator, and orator who transformed France and was famous for his patronage of the arts. His policies were the prelude to Louis XIV becoming the most powerful monarch - and France the most powerful nation - in all of Europe during the late 17th century...

However, Richelieu was deeply unpopular, largely because of his controversial treatment of commoners and, as a result, he was often portrayed in literature as a nefarious trickster. I am not going to review each swatch separately. Rather, I appreciate getting decent sized swatches at a decent price in a timely manner. I will be ordering yardage of one of them.

This taffeta is so wonderful. The hand of it will lend it to being machine embroidered on very nicely. I look forward to creating something wonderful with it.
