GUIGNOL (pronounced: gee-NYOL) refers to a style of dramatic entertainment that emphasizes horror, violence, and sadism. It can also describe a play that is horrific or macabre in nature. The term originated from the Théâtre du Grand-Guignol, a Parisian theater that specialized in horror shows from 1897–1962. The theater was known for its realistic and gory special effects, and employed doctors at every performance in case audience members fainted or vomited!Eerily reminiscent of human anatomy and the cardiovascular system, this unique tricolor shantung is woven with powder blue, rich navy, and crimson red yarns. They almost seem to twist and writhe like Guignol’s puppets brought to life, their limbs and veins contorted in a subtle, uncanny mimicry of flesh and blood…Tricoloré shantung is 1.5x the weight and twice the thickness of our standard shantung! That means it's not only eye-popping, it's extra-strong and durable as well!
