In the history of European military dress, burgundy and gold appear as striking albeit occasional colors in dragoon uniforms. French, Austrian, and Bavarian dragoons of the 17th–18th centuries sometimes wore dark red coats with gold lace or facings, while British dragoons and dragoon guards were known for dark scarlet coats heavily adorned with gold, which could read as burgundy in certain dyes or lighting. Thus, while not a standardized color, burgundy-and-gold combinations were historically present in various European dragoon regiments.Stripes measure 1” wide and run the length of the roll.
